Sean

Sean began practising Ashtanga Yoga in 2012, following a period of spiritual exploration that led him to Goa, India, where he met his first teacher, Rolf Naujokat. He went on to study and assist his teachers whilst living in Dubai before making his first trip to Mysore, India in 2015 to practise with R. Sharath Jois. He received his Level 1 Authorisation in 2019 and has continued to return to Mysore regularly. Sean has also taught Mysore programmes in Singapore and the UK, and has been running his shala in Paris (Paris Mysore Shala) at Naya Studio since 2023.

Alongside Ashtanga, Sean has a deep interest in yoga philosophy, self-inquiry, meditation, strength training and functional movement. He has studied Vedic chanting under Lakshmisha Bhat, and more recently, Certified teacher, Luke Jordan. He became a Functional Range Conditioning®️ Mobility Specialist in 2020, exploring how principles of mobility and functional movement can complement a traditional Ashtanga practice.

Sean’s approach is traditional but non-dogmatic. He believes the practice should have strong roots while remaining adaptable to the individual, rather than becoming a pursuit of performance or perfection. His classes place emphasis on breath, concentration and moving with awareness, with a calm and supportive atmosphere, clear verbal instruction, hands-on assists and appropriate modifications.
